Mission: The Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) delivers student-centered academic and workforce development programs and serves as a gateway to access further education, career achievement, personal growth, and self-sufficiency for adult learners in the NYC area.

Participants can choose to learn English, study and obtain their High School Equivalency Diploma, and/or complete one of our in-demand career trainings (Certified Nursing Assistant, Electronic Health Records, Security Officer Training, and more) at no cost.  In addition, we provide support services leading to greater employment opportunities, free college prep classes, and college application assistance (from FAFSA to acceptance).

Our services are free however, there are some unexpected costs that our students may encounter.  For these expenses, we have created the student Emergency & Scholarship Fund.  Launched during our 2016 #GivingTuesday campaign, the Emergency & Scholarship Fund has been awarded to over 10 students, actually surpassing our previous fundraising goal of $1,000.

This year MEOC would like your help on this #GivingTuesday (November 28th 2017) in raising $2,000 in scholarship funds to help our students keep striving towards their goals.

  • $50: helps with the first bi-weekly commute to a new job or to school
  • $100: assists with the purchase of work clothes or school supplies
  • $150: offsets the average cost of books per semester or a month of transportation
